Wardy's Thoughts - PFi December '09

A lot of hard work by the drivers and the team in difficult conditions produced some great results...

Well what a weekend!! It's always hard when we get heavy rain then a drying track.. then more rain! But I think we got it right.. Luke Whitehead has matured into one of the best talents I've seen at karting for a long time and I feel he has a big future in motorsport if he keeps working as hard as this.. Luke has signed with us to do Rotax Super1 next year and will also do KF3 at club level.. if Luke had this much talent as a young footballer am sure he would be at premier league academy level.. it's great news for us as a team that Chris and Luke have chosen to stay with us and I look forward to working with him at Super One level..

With next years dates now sorted a busy busy year Is ahead and only a month away!! it's always nice to see our academy drivers winning and we had two more this weekend at PFi.

Tom Taylor is fast improving and won the Junior novices at his first attempt! Tom did everything asked of him and was a worthy winner. Ten year old Jon Wheeler won the Cadet novice award in only his third meeting.. Jon only joined the academy three months ago and has come on very quickly, beating a hand full of experienced Cadet drivers just to qualify for the A final and then beat another hand full in it!!!! A pleasure to work with!! What makes my job worth while.. other academy graduate.. Harry Campey.. Has signed with HUK to do Super One and has a long enjoyable season to look forward to. I feel it shows how successful the academy is when a driver is ready for Super One so soon..

It's easy to forget that Harry has only been racing for just over a year!! With this in mind I feel it's vital the academy continues next year and will be run on every spare weekend as well as week days and school holidays.

Alex Taylor and Adam Wilson were both in action at PFi as well although both were very unlucky to go off in the heats and end up in the B final but again both drivers have just come off novice plates and are making fantastic progress!! Well were off to Wombwell this weekend, a meeting I love , it's my home club and a place I've been going since 1994!

Finally a big big thank you to Shaun, Craig, Perry, Bert and Baza for all there hard work and getting everything packed away in freezing temperatures and rain.. I think we have an excellent team and once again they impressed me this weekend as we had seven karts out over the three days and not one mechanical failure. Well done boys!!

Happy Racing!
